Electric Arc Furnaces
This type of furnace is used to melt iron and steel by the heat of an arc. There are many variations in these types. But most of them consist of cylindrical refractory lined shells with a domed roof and a charging door in a side.
The side walls are usually metal cased while Magnesite blocks and fused cast blocks set in the places where the wear is greatest. This can be installed with a minimum of labour and shutdown time.
